The Next Position is the Best Position

The Next Position is the Best Position

Samantha mentions this quote all the time.  Not sure where it originated but I first heard it in a discussion on posture when working.  Rather than attempt to find the perfect way of standing/sitting throughout the day, the goal is to constantly seek change and by constantly moving our bodies get more varied feedback and can naturally seek the positions that work best.

Increasingly I find myself applying the same concept across other domains.  When I am training I focus on not getting caught up holding on to the current situation, or tightly grasping the exact circumstances of the moment.  Instead, I focus on allowing change to happen and being present enough to bend the circumstances towards my aims.

From posture > training > life.  So often I’m caught up trying to lock in a way of life, schedule, or current set of circumstances that are “correct”.  Everytime I find myself mentally going down that road I’ve started reminding myself of the need for constant change and therefore the need to be present for whatever comes in that next moment.  From a simple discussion on posture has arisen a mantra that fits in to so many circumstances. On to the next position.
