Home Striking Workout Ideas

Below are some ideas of workouts that can be completed at home to improve fitness and technique while growing outside of class time.

Sets of 1lb and/or 2lb weights.

The Simplest RX:
9×3 min rounds

3 rounds of jump rope

3 rounds of shadowboxing

3 rounds of bag work

*If you don’t have a bag simply extend to 4 rounds jump rope and 5 of shadow boxing.

 

How to alter bag and shadowboxing rounds.

-Limit to a single teachnique (jab only)

-Limit to a single striking surface (Lead hand only)
-Limit to a single type of weapon (knees only)

-Limit to certain combos (2-3-2 switch knee)
-Limit to focus on speed work

-Include other workouts sprawl/burpee then hit your combo
-Work only foot work for a whole round

-Focus on less strikes but greater power

-Focus on less strikes but greater speed

-Slow down and focus on technique being perfect

-Focus on volume of work (what Peter calls the Angry Hippo)

-Alternate between Jump rope and shadowing boxing

-work on angles/distance management
