Guillotine Technique Napkin Math

Guillotine Technique Napkin Math

How do I get better at guillotines?

I have been training for 15 years.

I will try to underestimate at all points.  But 15 years of 5 grappling sessions/week.

250 sessions/year.

3,750 sessions total.

On the low end I probably average 3 guillotine attempts/session.

That’s 11,250 Guillotine attempts.

I have spent a ton of time teaching guillotines as well.   Some of my students are getting more proficient than I was at a much faster rate which is encouraging to see.

Coaches all the time say that the #1 secret is to keep showing up, but there is a ton of truth there.  You can keep trying to acquiring the newest super secret technique, but until your gotten the reps under your belt you will be missing something.

*One disclaimer* Don’t count mindless reps.  Actively engaged mind, wins out.

Bonus points for, tracking progress, writing notes, reviewing common scenarios or types of opponents causing issues.

This applies to almost anything so don’t get caught up in the specific move.
