Elevate MMA Blue Belt Test

 

*All Belt Tests will be conducted in the gi, however, students will be responsible for the entire curriculum.  Simply knowing the technique will not be sufficient.  Constant progression towards mastery of all areas of the curriculum will be required to be promoted.  

Additionally the student must show proficiency and desire for improvement in all 4 key areas related to promotion.

 

Movement:

 

Bridge – Shrimp – Knees

Shoot

Sprawl

 

Striking:

From both stances demonstrate:

The box drill

Box drill w/ Jab/ Cross/ Jab Cross

Mirror a partner in the box drill

Slipping/ Rolling

Jab- Cross – Hook -Uppercut – Overhand 

To the Body: Straight punches, shovel hook, wide hook

Elbows from all 3 angles

Low – Mid – High Round Kick and Switch Kick

Teep to midsection / Snap kick to midsection

Walking knees/ High Knees/ Penetrating Knees

 

Counters

1 Counter must be displayed to each strike above, counters can be intercepting or a block and counter

Strike into the Clinch

1 Escape from the Clinch

Footwork to trap opponent on the wall

 

Takedowns

1 Throw utilizing gi grips

1 throw from the clinch

Demonstrate Knee Tap>Step over Single> Tight Waist series

Double leg -single leg – high crotch to fit and then 1 finish for each

Double – single – high C counter for each

Pummel from over under/ add collar ties/ add wrist control

Grips breaks from wrist, collar and high collar

 

Wall Work

3 takedowns off the wall

Defense to double leg and single leg and high C

Pin opponent to the wall/ work off the wall

 

Ground Work

Closed Guard (Bottom) 3 Subs/2 sweeps/2 defensive control positions/Stand up

Closed Guard (Top) 2 breaks/ 2 passes/ strike in the guard/ prevent stand up

Butterfly Guard (Bottom) 2 subs/ 2 sweeps/ 2 control positions/ stand up

Butterfly Guard (Top) 2 passes/ strike/ prevent stand up

Half guard (Bottom) 1 sweep/ 1 control position/ stand up

Half Guard (Top) 1 pass/ strike from half/ prevent stand up

Open Guard  (Bottom) 1 sub/ 1 sweep/ keep distance with legs/ stand up

Open Guard (Top) 1 pass/ strike/prevent stand up

Side Control (Bottom) 2 escapes/ stand up

Side Control (Top) 2 subs/ take mount/ take back/ strike

Mount (Bottom) 2 escapes

Mount (Top) 2 subs/ take back/ strike

Back (Bottom) 2 defenses

Back (Top) 2 subs/ transition to mount/ strike

Turtle (Top) Take back/ prevent stand up/ strike
Turtle (Bottom) Prevent hooks/ Stand up/ Peterson roll/ Gramby rolll

Head and Arm (Bottom) Deny Choke, sit through, sucker drag, arm spin, stand up

Head and Arm (Top) Take back, take crucifix, 1 choke, strike, prevent stand up

Wrist Locks Hit two from any position
